South Baseball Takes Two from Hays

The Salina South baseball team picked up two wins over Hays on Thursday at Dean Evans Stadium. The Cougars won game one 6-2 and game two 7-4.

In game one,  the Cougars did all their damage in the third and sixth innings, scoring three times in each inning. Jacob Foster picked up the win. Foster gave up seven hits while striking out six. Jacob Yarochowicz picked up three hits, while Cole Hoover, Lane Driscoll and Zach Nachbar had two hits each.

In game two, South scored three runs in the first to take a 3-1 lead, but Hays tied the game in the second. The Indians pushed ahead in the fifth inning with a single run, but South responded with a four-run bottom half to take the 7-4 win. Cole Calvert picked up the win in relief, while Nachbar earned a save. Yarochowicz and Dalton Wassenberg had key RBI doubles for the Cougars in the four-run fifth.

The Cougars improve to 6-4 on the season.
