  • Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has ordered all K – 12 public school buildings to remain closed for the rest of this current school year. While the schools will be closed, classes will resume, not in person but remotely. Each individual district will be providing information.
  • Cornerstone Classical School: Postponed April 16 speaking engagement of Keith McCurdy’s parenting seminar at 6:30 p.m. Makeup is TBA.
  • Colleges:
    • Kansas State University-Polytechnic: All in-person classes for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester and the Spring 2020 commencement ceremony are all cancelled.
    • Salina Area Technical College: On-Campus classes canceled for week of March 16-20. Plan to go back to regular schedule on March 23
    • Kansas Wesleyan University: Classes are online only for remainder of semester
    • Bethany College: Spring Break week of March 16-20, Classes suspended week of March 23-27.
    • McPherson College: Remainder of second semester completed remotely through technology beginning March 30
    • Tabor College: Spring Break week of March 16-20. Between March 23-April 5, all classes taught online.



  • All Kansas DCF Service Centers: Closed until further notice
  • All district and appellate courts have ceased all but emergency operations. The only exception is jury trials that are currently under way. They may proceed to conclusion, but no other criminal or civil jury trials will be scheduled until further order. The Supreme Court anticipates the order to remain in effect for at least two weeks, at which time it will be reevaluated.
  • The City of Salina Household Hazardous Waste facility: Closed until further notice
  • The City of Salina Drive-thru Recycling Center: Closed until further notice
  • Salina Animal Services: Suspends public spay and neuter program until further notice.
  • Salina Regional Public Defenders office will be closed for two weeks beginning Monday, March 23rd. Attorneys can still be contacted via telephone.

  • Dickinson County Courthouse: Special Senior Preference Hours are in effect. Between hours of 8 a.m.-10 a.m. each business morning, individuals under the age of 60 are asked to refrain from coming to the courthouse until 10 a.m.
  • Abilene Public Library: Open. However, all programs have been suspended
  • Abilene Convention & Vistors Bureau’s Travel Information Center: Closed through March 31
  • Abilene Senior Center: Closed. But will be preparing lunches for seniors to pick up or have delivered.
  • All public programs and events in Abilene through the Parks & Rec: Canceled
  • All city of Abilene public meetings through the end of March: Canceled
  • City of Abilene: limit gatherings to 10 people until April 1
  • Smoky Hill Museum: Closed to public indefinitely
  • City of Salina Spring Spruce Up for April 25: Canceled.
  • Salina City Commission and Planning Commission Meetings: Canceled.
  • Kansas Prisoner Review Board-Derby and Topeka Public Comment Sessions: Canceled for March, 2020.
  • Utility disconnections in Kansas are temporarily suspended, until at least April 15. (
  • Saline County jail lobby currently open. However, jail is closed to visitors until further notice.
  • All Kansas Department of Corrections facilities closed until further notice.
  • The Salina Public Library is closed until further notice


  • All OCCK regional offices: Closed until further notice
  • Drs. Cooper & Banninger, LLC: Both Salina and Beloit offices closed to all routine office visits. Salina office is open for urgent and emergency care Monday-Friday. Beloit is open for urgent and emergency care on Tuesdays only
  • effective March 19, 2020 all R & J Tax Service appointments will be via phone or online. If you already have an appointment, someone will be contacting you to confirm the phone/online appointment details. There are a few options to get them your tax information.
  • Johnny Rotten’s: Closed through April 1
  • Outlaws: Closed through April 1
  • Salina Family YMCA: Temporarily closed. All activities upcoming cancelled. EEC program will remain open.
  • Salina Art Center: closed through March 31. Hope to be back open by April 1.
  • Rolling Hills Zoo is closed until further notice


  • Big 12 Sports (K-State & KU) suspended until March 29 and will be re-evaluated at that time.
  • NAIA Sports/Activities (Bethany, Kansas Wesleyan, McPherson & Tabor): all spring sports and activities canceled.
  • Kansas State High School Activities Association: all spring sports and activities including practices and competitions are suspended through March 22. May be extended, should conditions warrant.


  • Landmark Apostolic Church: virtual church until further notice. Online services at
  • Catholic Diocese of Salina: all public celebrations of the Holy Mass in the Diocese are canceled until further notice.
    • Exemption: funeral Masses
  • Free Sack Lunch for Coronado Elementary families from March 17-20. Free sack lunch is at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 743 E. Magnolia Rd., from 11 a.m.-1 p.m each day.
  • Awana club is cancelled this week at Faith Bible Church. The Awana grand prix is also postponed
  • Christ the King Lutheran Church , 111 W. Magnolia has cancelled their Midweek classes and Lenten services for Wednesday, March 18.
