  •  Friday Kansas Wesleyan will open at 10 a.m. The university will then close for the holidays beginning at 5 p.m. Friday evening, to allow its employees to spend additional time with loved ones. Following its holiday break, KWU will reopen Jan. 3 at 8 a.m.



Fort Riley to remain on minimal manning with limited services Friday

  • All Child Development Centers and the School Age Centers will be closed Thursday.
  • The 24-hour fitness centers at Whitside and Craig will remain open. All other fitness centers will be closed.
  • Irwin Army Community Hospital will offer virtual appointments or reschedule. Patients can call the appointment line at 785-239-3627
  • All hunting and outdoor recreation areas will be closed. Hunters and other outdoor visitors to Fort Riley Training areas should check
  • The Henry, Trooper and Ogden access control points will remain open 24/7. All other gates will be closed Thursday and remain closed through Monday.
  • Physical fitness training has been cancelled.
  • Commanders will determine if other training will occur as scheduled.
  • The Fort Riley Commissary will open at 11 a.m. Thursday until 8 p.m. The Fort Riley Main Post Exchange and food courts at the Main PX will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. The Big Red One Express and Forsyth Express sites will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with 24-hour fuel pumps open. All other Exchange locations are closed.

Soldiers, family members and civilian professionals who have questions or concerns are encouraged to visit or the Fort Riley website at for updated information.  Additionally, all employees of Fort Riley are urged to maintain contact with their chain of command and/or supervisor for the most up-to-date information.



  • Choices Network will be closed on Friday
  • The Salina Food Bank  is closed Friday, Dec. 23rd thru Monday, Dec. 26th due to the Holidays
  • Due to the forecasted severe temperatures and wind chill, Rolling Hills Zoo and Wildlife Museum will be closed  Friday, December 23rd.  Our Elephant Trunk Gift Shop will remain open, admission free, for your last minute Christmas shopping, with unique gifts for everyone on your shopping list. Rolling Hills Zoo will be closed for the holiday season on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and we will re-open on Monday, December 26, 2022.
  • CAPS in Salina will be closed Friday. It will reopen Tuesday, December 27th.
