Salina Liberty Add McKinney to Roster

The Salina Liberty are excited to announce Daniel McKinney will be playing with the Salina Liberty for the 2018 season!
Daniel McKinney is a 6’1”, 210LB wide receiver from Detroit, Michigan. McKinney played football at Melvindale High School where he played both receiver and linebacker. While McKinney is most known for his offensive skills, during his senior year he was an All-State linebacker with 116 tackles, 16 sacks and 4 forced fumbles to go along with 4 interceptions.
Following high school McKinney attended college in San Francisco where he obtained his associates while leading the Rams to a state championship. McKinney then went on to play at Florida Atlantic University as a wide receiver. In 2012 McKinney earned honorable mention all-Sun-Belt honors while at FAU. His senior year McKinney lead FAU in catches and yards in with 49 and 615 respectively. Later that year McKinney was picked up by the Washington Redskins of the National Football League.
During the 2017 season McKinney played for Dodge City Law of the Champions Indoor Football league. McKinney earned First Team all-league honors as a wide receiver leading the CIF with 909 receiving yards averaging 14 yards per reception while also scoring 20 touchdowns. McKinney also played a major part in returning kickoffs and being used as a running back at times where he scored another 4 touchdowns on the season. Liberty Head Coach Heron O’Neal said, “McKinney is a physical receiver that plays with a major chip on his shoulder. He can run every route and is excellent at running after the catch. He will be relied upon to be the leader of the wide receivers this season.”
