KWU’s Reed Named KCAC Defensive Player of Week

Kansas Wesleyan’s Kelton Reed has been selected as the KCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Coyotes’ 27-14 victory over Saint Mary on Saturday at Salina Stadium.
Reed, a senior defensive back from Plano, Texas, had seven tackles, four of them solo stops, to go along with one interception and three pass breakups in Saturday’s game. He and the rest of the Coyote defense helped stop the Spires’ passing game which leads the KCAC in per game average to 78 yards below their season average heading into Saturday’s game.
Reed joins Antonio Bray of Sterling who won KCAC Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the Warriors’ 48-14 victory over Southwestern.
With the victory, the Coyotes improved to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the KCAC. Wesleyan will wrap up its 2013 season on Saturday against the Sterling College Warriors at 1:30 p.m., at Salina Stadium.
