KWU’s Elkinton, Schultz Win KCAC Volleyball Honors

WICHITA – Taylor Elkinton was named the KCAC Volleyball Setter of the Week for a second straight week and Breanne Schultz was named as the KCAC Hitter of the Week as the conference announced the KCAC Volleyball weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Elkinton, a junior from Wichita, averaged 11.33 assists per game during the week in which Wesleyan went 2-0 in KCAC play. She averaged 12.67 assists per game on Saturday in Wesleyan’s three-set win over Bethel. She also had a total of 11 digs (1.83 per set) and recorded three kills in Wednesday’s match at Bethany.
Schultz, a senior opposite hitter from New Braunfels, Texas, had an incredible week for the Coyotes. She averaged 4.17 kills per set with an amazing .533 hitting efficiency, recording 25 total kills against just one error for the week. She also averaged 2.17 digs per set and .83 blocks per set as well. In Wednesday’s match against Bethany, Schultz had 12 kills with no errors on 18 attempts and followed up with a 13 kill, one error on 27 attempt performance against Bethel on Saturday.
Wesleyan’s two wins last week boosted their record to 16-9 overall and a perfect 8-0 in KCAC play. The Coyotes step out of conference play on Tuesday, hosting No. 9 ranked Park (Mo.) at 7 p.m., at Mabee Arena, before heading on the road on Friday and Saturday, wrapping the first half of KCAC play against Ottawa on Friday at 7 p.m., at Wilson Fieldhouse in Ottawa and starting the second half of KCAC play on Saturday at 1 p.m., against Saint Mary at the Ryan Sports Center in Leavenworth.
