KCAC Releases Pre-Season Basketball Polls

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference held its annual basketball media day on Tuesday in Wichita.

For the men’s side, Kansas Wesleyan was picked ninth by both the media and the coaches.

In the media poll, Friends was the choice to win the conference, picking up 109 points and four first-place votes. Tabor was second with 104 points and four first-place votes. The media picked Saint Mary third with 98 points and two first-place votes, while McPherson was fourth with 96 points and two first-place votes. Sterling was fifth with 94 points and one first-place vote. Bethany (61), Southwestern (60), Ottawa (51), Kansas Wesleyan (25) and Bethel (17) rounded out the voting.

In the coaches’ poll, Friends was picked to win the league with 75 points and seven first-place votes. Saint Mary was second with 65 points and one first-place vote. Tabor was third with 63 points and one first-place vote. McPherson was fourth with 61 points and one first-place vote. Sterling (54), Bethany (38), Ottawa (38), Southwestern (30), Kansas Wesleyan (16) and Bethel (10) rounded out the voting.

For the women’s side, Kansas Wesleyan was picked third by the coaches and fifth by the media.

In the media poll, Southwestern was picked to win the league with 138 points and 12 first-place votes. Tabor was second with 124 points and two first-place votes. Friends (105), Sterling (95), KWU (93), Ottawa (69), Bethel (45), Bethany (40), Saint Mary (31) and McPherson (30) rounded out the poll.

In the coaches’ poll, Southwestern was picked to win the league with 80 points and eight first-place votes. Tabor was second with 72 points and one first-place vote. Kansas Wesleyan was third with 64 points and one first-place vote. Friends (56), Sterling (51), Ottawa (43), Bethel (23), Bethany (22), Saint Mary (21) and McPherosn (18) rounded out the poll.
