Ell-Saline Splits at Remington

Ell-Saline’s boys rolled to a 52-38 win over Remington, while the girls couldn’t quite hold off Remington in a 50-47 loss on Friday.

The Cardinal boys moved back to .500 on the season thanks to a strong first half where Ell-Saline took control. The Cardinals led 21-16 after a quarter, and extended the lead to 29-21 at halftime. Remington was within seven going to the fourth quarter at 40-33, but Ell-Saline outscored the Broncos 12-5 down the stretch.

Ell-Saline was led by 11 points each from Louie Arceo and Ethan Steinbruck. Kamdon Basinger added 10 points. Ell-Saline is 4-4 and 1-1 in Heart of America League play.

In the girls contest, Ell-Saline trailed by just one at halftime, 24-23. Ell-Saline took the lead in the third quarter thanks to a 12-7 push to go up 35-31. However, undefeated Remington closed the game strong, outscoring the Cardinals 19-12 in the final frame to get the win.

Sesely Omli led the Cardinals with 14 points, while Paige Johnson added 10.

Ell-Saline is 5-3 and 0-2 in Heart of America League play.
