Ell-Saline Rolls Past Republic County

The Ell-Saline Cardinals picked up a 40-8 win over RepublicCounty last night to get their first district win.

The Cardinals scored all of their points in the first half.

Garrett Jacobson gave the Cardinals the early lead with a 65-yard touchdown run to give the Cardinals an 8-0 lead.

Ell-Saline added to the lead later in the quarter on Justin Schmutz’s 1-yard run to lead 14-0 after a quarter.

In the second quarter, Ell-Saline poured it on. Dakota Came had a 44-yard touchdown run, which was followed by an 8-yard touchdown run by Cody Walters and a 16-yard scoring run by Schmutz. The Cardinals capped the scoring on Tanner Parker’s 5-yard touchdown catch on a pass from Walters.

RepublicCounty would add a late touchdown for the final margin.

Ell-Saline racked up 423 yards of total offense to just 150 for RepublicCounty. Ell-Saline had 398 rushing yards in the win.

The Cardinals are 3-4 and 1-2 in district play. Ell-Saline hosts WashingtonCounty on Friday night.
