South Hosts Track Meet

The Salina Central girls finished third as a team, while the Salina South boys tied for third as a team to lead the way for local schools at Tuesday’s Salina South Invitational Track Meet at Salina Stadium.
The Salina South girls finished sixth while Sacred Heart was eighth. The Sacred Heart boys finished sixth while Salina Central was ninth. Garden City won both team titles.
Salina Central girls
Shaelyn Martin picked up two wins, both in hurdles. Martin won the 100 hurdles in 15.6 seconds, and also won the 300 hurdles in 48.22. Hallie Turner took the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 6 inches.
Salina Central boys
The only winner for the Mustang boys was distance runner Daniel Villareal, who took the 3,200 with a time of 10:31.94.
Salina South girls
Emilee Holloway picked up her third win of the season in the 800, winning in 2:23.58. Teryn Holloway won the javelin with a throw of 110 feet, two inches.
Salina South boys
The Cougar boys found success in the field. Garrett Mortimer won the javelin with a throw of 161 feet, 8 inches, while Avery Mitchell took the triple jump with a distance of 44 feet, five inches.
Sacred Heart boys
Trevor Webb was a winner in the 110 hurdles, finishing in 14.83 seconds. Chris Sandquist added a win in the 800, finishing in 2:01.80.
