NJCAA Tournament Moves Into Second Round

Six more games are done at the NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship at the Bicentennial Center.
In the first two games of the day on Tuesday, No. 19 Northern Oklahoma-Enid beat No. 14 Eastern Arizona 74-67, and No. 11 Tyler (Texas) rolled past No. 22 Southwestern Illinois 74-52 to advance to the second round.
Then play moved to the second round where top-seed Trinity Valley (Texas) cruised to a 77-48 win over No. 17 Western Nebraska. Three great contests wrapped up the day, starting with No. 9 Northwest Florida State’s 81-80 overtime victory against No. 8 South Georgia Tech. No. 13 Blinn (Texas) used a sterling defensive effort in the second half to hold off No. 4 Walters State (Tenn.), 57-52, ending the Senators’ undefeated season. In the final game of the night, No. 12 Salt Lake led for much of the contest, but No. 5 Central Arizona rallied for a 63-61 win.
Today is more second round action, but with four games today. Action starts at 1 when No. 2 Chipola (Fla.) takes on No. 18 ASA (N.Y.). At 3, No. 7 Shelton State (Ala). meets No. 10 Butler. Then at 5, No. 3 Hutchinson meets up with Northern Oklahoma-Enid, and the day wraps up at 7 as No. 6 Southern Idaho takes on Tyler.
