Even with a change in venue, nothing could slow down the #1 seed Salina Central Mustangs on Wednesday night, as they again won in impressive fashion, downing the 4th seed Abilene Cowboys 72-38.

Abilene would score the first four points of the game with Belle Barbieri, but after that, it was all Salina Central. The Mustangs would outscore the Cowboys 23-5 over the course of six minutes and lead 23-9 after one. A 19-0 run to begin the second quarter put Abilene behind the eight ball quickly, and Central lead 45-17 at halftime.

In the second half, the tempo would drastically slow down, but the Mustangs would continue building on their lead, outscoring the Cowboys 16-9 in the quarter, and lead 61-26 at the end of three. Salina Central would call off the dogs in the fourth quarter, with Abilene outscoring them in the final frame 12-11, but the Mustangs cruised into the championship round with a dominating 72-38 win.

Central’s half court man press and deadly sharp shooting were on cue once again, forcing Abilene into 21 turnovers. The Mustangs also hit 10 perimeter shots. Emily Wood lead the Central attack with 15 points, Brooke Peters set a new career high with 14 points and Shaelyn Martin would add another double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Abilene was lead by a valiant effort from Belle Barbieri, as she finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Salina Central is now 11-0 overall and advance to the S.I.T championship game where they will meet #3 seed Andover on Saturday.
