Boom Rally Stuns Stockade

The Salina Stockade dropped a heartbreaker in Great Bend on Friday night, losing 16-15 in 11 innings.
The Stockade jumped out to an 11-0 lead thanks to a four-run first inning and a seven-run third. Great Bend started its comeback in the bottom of the third with three runs, and added another run in the fifth before answer Salina’s run in the sixth with six more runs to make it 12-10.
The Stockade added two insurance runs in the eighth and another in the ninth to extend the lead to 15-10, but it wasn’t enough. The Boom tied the game with five runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. Then in the 11th, Great Bend picked up the win on a walk-off single.
Morgan Blatnik and Jean Carlos Peralta had three hits each for the Stockade, while Mike Rachun drove in four runs. Blatnik, Rachun and Ray Hernandez all homered for the Stockade.
Keifer McClendon took the loss in relief, giving up the winning run on one hit, three walks, and one strikeout. Kevin Delzell pitched five and one third innings in the start, giving up 10 runs, eight earned, on 14 hits and three walks, while striking out six. The Stockade committed seven errors in the loss.
The Stockade (9-12 Pecos League) hosts Great Bend at 7pm Saturday night at Dean Evans Stadium.
