Third Place for South Boys, Central Girls

The Salina Central girls and the Salina South boys track teams turned in third place finishes at Tuesday’s Andover Invitational.

The Mustang girls were led by victories from Shaelyn Martin in the 300 meter hurdles in 46.96 and Hallie Turner in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet. Andale won the girls team title, while Andover Central was second.

The Salina South girls were led by Emilee Holloway’s win in the 800, finishing in 2:26.36. The Cougars finished fifth as a team on the girls side.

The South boys picked up wins from Tristan Irish in the 1,600 in 4:45.13 and Steven Slayton in the triple jump with a distance of 41 feet, 9 and 1/2 inches. The Cougars finished behind Andale and Wichita Collegiate in the team standings.

The Salina Central boys were paced by a pair of runner-up finishes. Terrell Rodriguez was second in the 400, while Noah Smucker was second in the long jump.
