After a rain out on Monday, the Salina Stockade dropped both ends of its Tuesday doubleheader at Trinidad, Colo., falling to the host Triggers 11-2 and 8-7.
In the opener, the Triggers built a 5-0 lead through three innings before the Stockade got on the board with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. However, the Triggers answered both runs, and then added four more runs in the sixth to put the game away.
Dalton Bernardi was charged with the loss, giving up seven runs on seven hits and six walks while striking out four over four and one-third innings.
In the nightcap, the Triggers again built an early lead, going up 2-0 after an inning. The Stockade answered with a three-run second, but the Triggers scored three runs of their own in the bottom half. The Stockade tied the game at 5 in the fifth, and took a 7-5 lead in the sixth before Trinidad scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off with the win.
The Stockade tallied just four hits in the contest, with Eric Olivo picking up two RBI. Chad Flick surrendered the game-winning hit, while Skyler Fuss was charged with the winning run, giving up all three seventh-inning runs to cap his three and one-third innings of relief. Gilbert Barrera gave up six runs, five earned, over three innings in the start.
The Stockade drops to 11-14 in the Pecos League. The Stockade visits Topeka tonight before hosting the Train Robbers at 7pm Thursday at Dean Evans Stadium.
