Deirdre Ann Alden (nee Langan) passed away on April 30, 2024 in Salina, KS, with her daughter Aislinn at her bedside, after a hard-fought one-year struggle with cancer.

Born to Sean and Una Langan on June 12, 1962 in San Francisco, CA, Deirdre attended St. Cecilia’s elementary and St. Rose Academy high schools in the City.  She received her nursing certificate after attending the University of San Francisco and California State University East Bay.

Deirdre moved to Kansas to help Aislinn with Deirdre’s new grandchild Halle, while Aislinn herself studied nursing and interned at the local hospital.  After Aislinn received her nursing degree, it was Aislinn who helped care for Deirdre as she suffered through the disease and its treatments.

Predeceased by her father Sean, Deirdre is survived by her daughter Aislinn (Alex), her sons Bruce and Hugh, her mother Una Langan, her brother John (Shawn Michelle), and her two wonderful grandchildren, Halle and Lailah.

A mass to celebrate Deirdre’s life will be held on May 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Church, located at 17th Avenue and Vicente Streets in San Francisco, CA.  Following the service, Deirdre will be laid to rest with her father Sean at Holy Cross cemetery in Colma, CA.

Deirdre will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend.  Her lively and loving spirit will continue to inspire and comfort all of us fortunate enough to know her.
