KWU Sweeps Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards

Martinez was named as the KCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Tielrooy earned KCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Martinez, a sophomore forward from Riverside, Calif., continued her stellar season for the Coyotes this week. In the win over Bethel, the defending KCAC Offensive Player of the Year scored a goal and had assists on three others as Wesleyan won 6-0. On Saturday on the road at Ottawa, Martinez scored the game winning goal as the Coyotes beat Ottawa 2-1.
Tielrooy, a senior goalkeeper from Brea, Calif., had an outstanding week in goal for the Coyotes, shutting out Bethel while recording three saves and helping the Coyotes beat Ottawa on the road with five saves. The shutout against Bethel was her sixth of the season.
Wesleyan is leading the KCAC at 7-0 and is 10-3-3 overall. The Coyotes are riding a 26-match unbeaten streak in KCAC regular season play (25-0-1). Wesleyan has two matches remaining in the regular season, both at home, taking on Sterling on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Salina Stadium, and Saint Mary on November 5 at 5 p.m., at Salina Stadium.
