Ell-Saline Takes One of Two at Marion

The Ell-Saline Cardinals split at Marion on Tuesday, with the Cardinal girls winning 56-51 and the boys falling 48-43.

In the girls game, Ell-Saline took control early, leading 12-6 after one and 28-19 at halftime. Marion rallied in the second half, closing within 42-37 after three, but Ell-Saline was able to hold off Marion.

Aubrey Wilson and Paige Johnson had 15 points each, while Sesely Omli added 13 points. The Cardinals are 10-5 overall and 3-3 in the Heart of America League.

In the boys contest, Marion led 14-9 after one, but Ell-Saline tied the game at 23 at halftime. However, Marion went back in front in the third quarter, outscoring Ell-Saline 9-3, and held on for the win.

Ell-Saline was led by 10 points from Ethan Steinbruck and Brandon Clark. The Cardinals are 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the Heart of America League.
