Sacred Heart Sweeps Solomon

The Sacred Heart Knights have made the play-offs for the fifth consecutive year with a 35-0 win at Moundridge.
The Sacred Heart boys and girls both got big season-opening wins against Solomon Friday night.
After a slow start by both teams, the Lady Knights went on for a 45-30 win. Neither team scored until Sacred Heart took the first lead of the game with 5:35 remaining in the opening quarter. Solomon trailed 6-0 and 8-2, but the Lady Gorillas went on an 8-0 run to close the first quarter with a 10-8 advantage.
Sacred Heart opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run of their own to reclaim the lead and never looked back. The Lady Knights led 25-17 at halftime and 35-20 after three quarters on their way to a 15-point win.
Cara Donley led Sacred heart with 22 points and Tracie Thibault added ten. Jamie Meagher led Solomon with 16 points.
The scoring in the boys game also started slowly, but, in the end, Sacred Heart got a 68-32 win. 6-0 and 12-0 runs sandwiching a Kord Hilbert 2-point basket gave the Knights an 18-2 lead after the opening eight minutes of the game. Sacred Heart ultimately went on a 19-0 run by also scoring the first seven points of the second quarter and made the score 25-2.
The Knights led 40-11 at halftime and 62-24 after the third quarter. The clock ran continuously in the final quarter as Sacred Heart went on for a 36-point win.
Kane Comfort led the Knights with 12 points, Tate Richards added 11, and Austin Palen scored ten points. Jordan Rangel led Solomon and all scorers with 14 points.
On Tuesday, the Knights begin their first of three games next week at the Irish Classic in Chapman. Sacred Heart will face El Dorado with tip times set for 3:00 and 4:45. The games can be heard online at ksal.com.
