WINFIELD – The Kansas Wesleyan Men’s Golf team finished sixth and Kamie Rash(SR/Syracuse, Kan.) roared back from a disappointing first round to finish second at the Southwestern College Spring Invitational at the Winfield Country Club.

The Coyote men finished sixth in the team standings behind Sterling College. Wesleyan shot a 2-day team score of 690 in the tournament.

Clinton Moore (JR/Ottawa, Kan.) led the way for the Coyotes finishing tied for tenth with a 161 (77-84). Tanner Jones (FR/Goodland, Kan.) tied for 30th with a 170 (82-88), Cameron Staples(FR/Oakley, Kan.) tied for 39th with a 176 (90-86), Tyler Clark (SO/Wichita, Kan.) tied for 47th with a 179 (87-92), Joel Weis (JR/Goodland, Kan.) tied for 53rd with a 181 (93-88),Cody Crabtree (SR/Houston, Texas) finished 60th with a 190 (92-98) and Tyler Jones (SO/Goodland, Kan.) tied for 63rd with a 194 (100-94).

Bethany was the team champion with a team score of 617 and Bethany’s Jose Acevedo was the individual champion with a score of 153 (79-74).

On the women’s side Kamie Rash was the lone competitor for Wesleyan at the event. After shooting a 93 in the first round and tying for tenth on Monday, she roared back into contention shooting a tournament-low round 81 on Tuesday to finish with a 174, but came up three shots behind Southwestern’s Hannah Mason for the individual championship.

Next up for the Coyote men is the KCAC Men’s Golf Championships on April 21 and 22 at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City. Next up for the women will be first-ever KCAC Women’s Golf Championships on April 28 and 29 also at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City.
