Five Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes and two Bethany Swedes received recognition on the 2013 All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason football team, which was released Thursday.
All returning first and second team All-KCAC players from the 2012 season were nominated for the preseason honor, with coaches allowed to nominate other key members from their teams.
KWU senior wide receiver Zach McClain and senior offensive lineman Sean Grove headline the list of Coyotes. Both were unanimous selections to the team. McClain was a preseason pick last season as well and was a first-team All-KCAC performer in 2012. Grove was a first-team All-KCAC player in 2012 as well.
Also named to the offense were Bethany junior running back Tevis Linnebur, a 2012 first-team selection, and junior lineman Marcus Bradley, a second-team pick last year.
Defensively, two Coyotes made the cut as senior linebacker Brady Harwell and senior defensive back Kelton Reed are on the team. Harwell was a first-team pick last season, while Reed was a second-team selection.
On special teams, KWU senior Lee Stewart, a first-team pick last year, makes the team as a returner.
The season begins on September 7, when Kansas Wesleyan travels to Hastings and Bethany visits Southwestern Assemblies of God.
