Central Soccer Falls to Maize South

The state-ranked Maize South girls soccer team rolled to a 4-1 win over Salina Central on Monday at Salina Stadium.

The Mavericks, ranked No. 5 this week by the Kansas Soccer Coaches Association, used junior Ryann Burnett early and often in the victory. Burnett scored twice in the first half, at the 12th and 21st minutes, to give Maize South a 2-0 halftime advantage.

In the second half, Burnett scored again in the 45th minute to put the Mavericks up 3-0.

Central would get on the board in the 46th minute as Casey Knoth scored.

Maize South got the goal back with Burnett in the 75th minute to pick up the 4-1 win.

Maize South is 6-0-1 on the season, while Central drops to 2-4. Central hosts Andover Central on Thursday.
