Woman Fleeing Police Killed in Crash

A woman fleeing police was killed in a single-vehicle crash in southeast Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Carla Tewel from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, was driving a 2011 Honda Accord and leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit.

The chase was headed east on U.S. 166 highway. As Tewel  crossed over US 75 highway she failed to negotiate a curve. Her car went through a guard rail, down down an embankment, and rolled four times. It came to rest in the field.

Tewel, who was not buckled up, was killed in the crash.

The crash happened at around 4:00 Friday afternoon 2.5 miles north of Caney in Montgomery County.
