State of Emergency in Norton

The city of Norton is under a state of emergency.

Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer declared the state of emergency because of harmful algae blooms in Sebelius Lake, which provides Norton’s water supply. The Kansas National Guard is delivering bottled water to the town.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued a boil water advisory for Norton last week, and testing of the town’s water supply is continuing.
