In Girls action an amazing start for Smoky Valley as they hit 6 3-pointers in the first half and took a 21-14 at the halftime break. Only to see Larned come out and outscore them 14-3 in the third quarter and 17-12 in the 4th quarter to win it 47-36. Ellie Brumbaugh led the Viking with 11, Ashlyn Bryant added 10.
In the night cap Smoky Valley Boys led 10-7 after one, trailed 25-19 at the half and 42-32 after 3 quarters. But an 8-0 run got it to within two and then with many free throws the Vikings took a 48-46 lead with 2:10 left to go. Then leading 57-53 late in the 4th Carson Windholz was fouled, but a technical was also called on the Vikings. Carson made 2 free throws to put the Vikings up by 4 but Larned go their two technical free throws and the ball with 4 seconds remaining and got a lob play to send it to OT. In overtime the Vikings led by 5 only to see Larned hit two free throws and a long range three to send it to double-overtime. In 2OT they outscored the Vikings 8-3 to win 70-65. Lane Schrag was outstanding with 25 points, and Blake Heble had 15. Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday to host Lyons.
