Saline County Top Administrator to Retire

A long-time Saline County top administrator is calling it a career. After almost 30 years on the job, including nearly two decades as Saline County Administrator, Rita Deister is stepping down.

Saline County Commission Chairman Robert Vidricksen announced Wednesday morning that Deister intends to retire. The commission has accepted her resignation, which is effective in late March.

Deister told KSAL News she started with Saline County in 1990 in human resources. She worked her way up to assistant county administrator, and eventually to the top position of administrator.

Deister has been the Saline County Administrator for the last 18 years.

Vidricksen said that Assistant County Administrator/Director of Finance Andrew Manley has been promoted. He will take over Deister’s position when she leaves in March.

The principal objective of the County Administrator, under the authority of the County Commission, is to serve as Administrative Officer of Saline County.
