Salina to Participate in Inauguration Day of Service

Governor-elect Laura Kelly and Lt. Governor-elect Lynn Rogers, as part of their 2019 inaugural activities, are hosting free community celebrations and a day of service this Saturday across the state in order to involve every Kansan in the 2019 inaugural festivities.

Saline County Democrats are taking part in this inauguration activity and have chosen Salina Shares as the beneficiary of a local day of service.

The mission of Salina Shares is to share their time, their lives and their resources with the community. They invite individuals, businesses, churches and schools to participate in enriching the community by sharing what you can with one another. What began as group outings for random acts of kindness, continues to grow into activities and outings with the intention of being a ‘sudden good break’ to those they meet along the way. Salina Shares delights in releasing hope, impacting lives and affirming dignity.

Volunteers will meet at Ad Astra on Saturday afternoon beginning at 3:00. Refreshments will be served and  a video from the Governor-elect, and hopefully collect lots of items to donate. Those who attend are urged to bring with items to donate. Suggested items include but are not limited to:

  • winter scarves
  • gloves
  • socks
  • flip flops
  • laundry items
  • household items
  • Valentine’s Day items

If you are unable to attend the event on Saturday don’t worry, you can still drop off items at Ad Astra anytime this week leading up to Saturday.
