Salina Man Wins $20,022 Playing Keno

A Salina man has 20,000 reasons to be a fan of the Kansas Lottery.

Richard Bronson of Salina has a strategy for playing Keno. He follows the same routine almost every day and this week it paid off with a $20,022 win on an 8-Spot Keno ticket.

“I go to one Dillons and buy a multi-draw Keno ticket and then I go home until after lunch,” said Bronson. “I stop at another Dillons later in the day, get another multi-draw ticket, and then go to a bar and watch the numbers. It’s just what I do when I play.”

Bronson said that he missed the winning Keno numbers when they were on the screen, so he went up to the terminal to check his ticket. “It told me it said to “redeem in Topeka,” and I assumed I had won $1,000 or something like that. I had no idea how much the ticket was worth!”

“I texted my daughter and she called the Kansas Lottery office for me to see what the ticket was worth. When they confirmed that it was worth over $20,000, I was kind of in shock. It still hasn’t fully sunk in even though we’re here now,” Bronson said.

“I don’t know what to do with the winnings,” said Bronson. “I’ll probably just put it in the bank for now, and see if I can think of something.”

The winning ticket was sold at Dillons 74 on 2350 Planet Avenue in Salina. Keno draws every four minutes, and gives players multiple ways to play and win. You can learn more about Keno on our website www.kslottery.com.
