Salina Man Arrested with Stolen 9mm

A man who was reportedly knocking on doors and acting suspicious during the overnight hours on Sunday in a Salina neighborhood, was arrested after officers found him with a loaded 9mm pistol.

Salina Police Sergeant David Villanueva tells KSAL News that 29-year-old Richard Lee Burge was taken into custody after calls began streaming in from the 100 block of S. 10th. Homeowners told authorities that around 3:15am, Burge began knocking on doors and then allegedly made comments about being armed before moving on.

Concerned citizens called police – who then found Burge a short time later in the 200 block of Baker Street. He told officers he had a BB gun, but further investigation revealed that he was in possession of a stolen 9mm Taurus handgun.

He now faces numerous drug charges after police found Burge with methamphetamine, marijuana and pipes. In addition, investigators also want to know how Burge came into possession of the handgun that was reported stolen last week from a property in the 500 block of Front Street.
