Runaway Teen Faces Battery of LEO Charges

A southeast Kansas teen is in juvenile detention after she ran away from her home and then assaulted three different officers while being booked in to Saline County jail.

Police Capt. Paul Forrester tells KSAL News that 15-year-old Jacqueline McQuillen, Independence, Kan., ran away from her home. Police were then called to Salina Regional Health Center where McQuillen was under observation. She was discharged and taken in to custody.

While McQuillen was being processed in to jail, she was being defiant of orders and walking around the station. When police went to detain her and attempted to take her phone, she assaulted three different officers by kicking one, biting another and hitting the third in the face and chest.

McQuillen–who also had a no run order–is now facing three charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and interference with a law enforcement officer. She was then sent to the juvenile detention facility in Junction City.
