The Payless ShoeSource store at the Central Mall in Salina is one of the 2,100 that will soon be out of the business. The company is shutting down all 21-hundred-stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Liquidation sales, including in Salina, began on Sunday.
The company made the announcement on Friday, becoming the biggest closing by a single chain this year.
A Payless spokesperson says the stores will most likely remain open until May.
The Salina store will remain open until May, or until whenever its inventory is liquidated, whichever comes first.
The Kansas-based discount shoe retailer previously filed for bankruptcy protection in 2017 when they closed 673 stores.
