A two car, head-on crash in eastern McPherson County sent a Texas man to the hospital.

The Kansas Highway Patrol tells KSAL News that the crash happened on US 56 Highway just east of the community of Galva on Thursday morning.

A 2003 Dodge pickup being driven by 68-year-old Michael Ray Kotria of Weimar, Tex. was traveling eastbound on US 56 when his vehicle went left of center and crashed head-0n with a 2007 Kenworth semi being driven by 65-year-old Earl Wayne Toews of Galva, Kan., headed westbound.

Kotria’s pickup came to a rest on the highway, while the semi ended up in the south ditch. Kotria sustained a significant injury in the wreck and was taken to the hospital in McPherson. Toews was uninjured. Both men were buckled up.

The crash occurred at milepost 275.1 or 1.5 miles east of Galva on US 56 Highway at 9:11 a.m.
