A Hays woman traveling on Interstate 70 was killed on Tuesday afternoon due to the slick road.

The Kansas Highway Patrol tells KSAL News 19-year-old Ashlen Leigh Lemon was traveling westbound on I-70 just two miles west of Junction City when her 2005 Chevy Malibu lost control due to icy road conditions, entered the median and struck the guard rail.

Lemon, who was buckled up, was transported to Geary Community Hospital where she was later pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m.

The crash occurred just after Noon on Tuesday at milepost 293 on I-70, or two miles west of Junction City in Geary County.
