A Fort Riley soldier fleeing law enforcement on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County died in a crash Friday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol 21-year-old Matthew Peachey was headed east on I 70 in a Mazda hatchback, attempting to flee KHP units. For an unknown reason he drove off the road into the south ditch and struck a cement culvert.

Peachey, who was not buckled up, was killed.

The crash happened Friday night at 8:19 on Interstate 70 near Chapman.
