A single vehicle crash caused by a drowsy driver sent a man from Pennsylvania and a woman from Maryland to the hospital in Salina.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 75-year-old John Hunter from Easton, Pennsylvania, was driving a Buick Verano headed west on Interstate 70. He fell asleep and drifted off the right side of the road. The car then vaulted off  an embankment and landed on a county road.

Hunter and a passenger, 50-year-old Dorian Taylor from Crofton, Maryland, suffered suspected serious injuries. Both were transported to Salina Regional Health Center. Both were buckled up.

The crash happened Wednesday morning at 9:35 on I 70 in the area of mile marker 233 in Lincoln County.
