Postseason action begins this week in the state of Kansas high school sports scene with the beginning of regional wrestling tournaments for girls’ wrestling.
With postseason action beginning, teams in the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League I are making their final preparations for the home stretch of the 2025-26 winter season.
Maize High and Maize South are tied for the top spot in the AVCTL I boys’ basketball standings with identical 7-1 AVCTL I records and a split of the season-series. The Mavericks get the top spot thanks to a 15-3 overall record compared to 14-4 for the Eagles. Derby is in third place with a 14-5, 6-2 record while Salina South sits in 5th place with a 13-6, 2-6 record.
Maize South continues to lead the AVCTL I girls’ basketball standings with a 15-3, 8-0 record while Derby is in 2nd with a 16-3, 7-1 record and Salina South is in third place with a 12-7, 5-3 record.

CAMPUS
The Lady Colt basketball team defeated Valley Center 55-47 on Friday. The Lady Colts lost 72-31 against Derby on Tuesday. … The Colt boys’ basketball team defeated Valley Center 65-59 on Friday. The Colts lost 68-36 against Derby on Tuesday. … The Lady Colt wrestling team competed in the Campus tournament on Saturday. … The Colt boys’ wrestling team competed in a dual against Wichita Northwest on Thursday.
DERBY
The Lady Panther basketball team defeated Eisenhower 76-52 on Friday. The Lady Panthers defeated Campus 72-31 on Tuesday. … The Panther boys’ basketball team defeated Eisenhower 89-62 on Friday. The Panthers defeated Campus 68-36 on Tuesday. … The Lady Panther wrestling team defeated Wichita East 60-22 on Thursday. … The Panther boys’ wrestling team defeated Wichita East 40-34 on Thursday.
HUTCHINSON
The Lady Salt Hawk basketball team defeated Salina South 42-40 on Friday. The Lady Salt Hawks defeated Valley Center 51-40 on Tuesday. … The Salt Hawk boys’ basketball team defeated Salina South 47-39 on Friday. The Salt Hawks lost 65-46 against Valley Center on Tuesday. … The Lady Salt Hawk wrestling team will compete in the Class 5A regional tournament at Newton on Saturday. … The Salt Hawk boys’ wrestling team wrestled to a tie with Goddard on Thursday, tying 39-39.
