Two Hospitalized in Burma Rd Crash

A Junction City man is in ICU after a semi truck hauling scrap metal and an SUV collided at Crawford and Burma Road just before 1pm on Wednesday afternoon.

First responders were able to free 69-year-old Joe P. Grimes of Junction City from his truck in a matter of minutes and transport the unconscious man to Salina Regional Health Center.

Crews worked for just over an hour to rescue 34-year-old Terrah May Martin of Ellsworth from her 2008 Cadillac Escalade which was wedged against a power pole.

Martin was flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of her injuries.

Lt. Mike Smith with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office tells KSAL News that the semi was northbound on Burma and did not stop at the stop sign and collided with Martin’s SUV as she traveled eastbound on Crawford.

Deputies say the accident scattered scrap metal over a 200-foot by 30-foot area at the scene.

Burma Road was closed overnight for crews to clean up the area.
