Trinity Dominates Ell-Saline in Doubleheader Sweep

The Ell-Saline Cardinals’ basketball squads ran into the proverbial buzzsaw Tuesday evening in Hutchinson, suffering a Heart of America League sweep at the hands of the Trinity Celtics.

In the girls’ matchup, Trinity’s used its size and quickness to force 31 Ell-Saline turnovers, while six different Celtics connected from beyond the arc in a 55-15 Trinity win.

Trinity (2-5, 1-1) was paced by 13 points from senior Olivia Shank, who led all scorers in the contest.  Junior Ryleigh Clifton and sophomore Hayley Hughes each chipped in eight for the Celtics.  In all, nine Celtics found their way into the scoring column.

Ell-Saline (0-8, 0-3) was led by five points from sophomore point guard Reece Ditto.  Junior guard Erin Lange added three points in the loss.

In the nightcap, Trinity received a stellar offensive performance right out of the gates, pouring 32 points onto the scoreboard in the first quarter on its way to a 74-34 win.

Trinity (5-2, 2-0) was lead by a dynamic Hammeke duo.  Senior Kaleb Hammeke led the way with 22 points, while sophomore Lucas Hammeke added 12 points.

Ell-Saline (2-6, 1-2) received a tremendous effort from sophomore Treyton Peterson in the loss.  Playing on a sprained ankle, Peterson scored 21 of the Cardinals 34 points on the night, including all 11 in the second half.
