A Kansas City area school district is planning to sue an e-cigarette manufacturer.

The Olathe school board voted Friday to authorize a lawsuit against Juul and its retailers and distributors on the argument that using the products poses a health risk to students.

District officials call vaping an epidemic and add that the district is taking the lead in protecting students and future leaders.

Olathe school officials say the lawsuit will have no financial cost to the school district.
