Salina Radio Station Staffers Honored

Staff members from Alpha Media Salina radio stations have been honored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. The association announced its 2016 KAB Awards of Excellence on Tuesday.

Salina staff have been honored with nine awards.

The awards include:

Complete Severe Weather Coverage

  • 1st Place – KSAL Severe Weather Team – coverage of the May 25th Dickinson County Tornado
  • 2nd Place – KSAL Severe Weather Team –  coverage of April 24th severe weather

Complete Sportscast

  • 1st Mike Hammett KSAL – KSAL Morning Sports

  • 2nd Todd Pittenger KSAL- X-Cited About XWE

News Feature

  • Honorable Mention Todd Pittenger KSAL – Police Memorial Day

According to the KAB, 725 entries were submitted by broadcasters from across the state. Broadcasters from Wisconsin judged the entries.

The awards will be handed out at the KAB Convention in Wichita in October.
