Salina Man Stops Would-Be Burglar

A Salina man wrestled with a would-be burglar in his backyard Tuesday evening.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Florida after an attempted garage burglary was interrupted by the homeowner.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that the man in his 20’s heard noises near his detached garage.

He then saw a slim, black male trying to open a side door to the building. He confronted the suspect and wrestled him to the ground.

The man told police he then saw two more black males approaching him before the suspect wriggled free.

Police say nothing was taken but an air compressor had apparently been moved away from the backdoor to another part of the yard.

The owner had mild scratches on his neck and required no medical attention.

No arrests have been made in the case.
