On October 31, 2017 at about 12:00PM, a drone owned by K-State Salina Poly Tech, was shot while being operated in rural Saline County.

The drone, a Strix Strato Surfer was being operated by an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) student over pasture land leased by the college. The incident occurred in the 3000 block of S. Holmes Road.

Damage is estimated to be over $250.
