A newly released national report has identified three hate groups that are based in Kansas.
KAKE-TV reports that according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, there were 784 hate groups across the nation in 2014. That includes the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, which is known for its anti-LGBT stance, as well as, picketing the funerals of dead American soldiers. Other Kansas-based hate groups are based in Wichita including the Midland Hammerskins and Crew 38, which are both white-supremacist organizations.
The report showed that there were only five states with fewer hate groups than the Sunflower State.
