A record number of mosquitoes are found in Reno County.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says last month, its crews trapped the most mosquitoes ever found since the state began studying the insects.

Health officials say they are working to get permission from cities in Reno County before they can spray for the bugs. Recent rains and flooding are to blame for the larger than normal mosquito population.
