New Sculpture Vandalized

Salina Police are investigating a damage to property case after someone vandalized a new sculpture in downtown.

Captain Paul Forrester tells KSAL News that sometime Saturday between 1pm and 9:30pm, someone broke two pieces off a metal spiral corkscrew sculpture that was on a pedestal located at 7th and Iron across from the Smoky Hill Museum.

Local artist Corey Haden unveiled the work entitled “Dave” just two weeks ago during the Sculpture Tour Salina’s opening day.

Damage is estimated at $2,000. There are no suspects.

Investigators are looking to review any surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
