The downtown Salina fieldhouse and the new dog park are both closer to having names.
Among other things on Monday, Salina City Commissioners began the naming process.
The proposal for the fieldhouse, which will be located at Ash and 5th Street, falls under the city’s philanthropic naming policy. The proposal is to name it the “Salina Regional Health Center Community Fieldhouse”. The hospital has donated $1.25 million to the project.
The proposal for the dog park, which will be a three acre fenced area on the south end of the East Crawford Recreation Area, is to name it “Barkley Park”. It would fall under the city’s landmark naming policy.
A public hearing will be scheduled before the names become final.
In other business Monday commissioners also approved a request to allow Salina Downtown to reallocate a portion of $12,000 in City funds granted to them in 2015 to purchase downtown holiday decorations.
