Multiple Charges After Threats Made With A Handgun

A Salina man was taken into custody after threatening his girlfriend with a handgun in the presence of young children.

UnderSheriff Brent Melander reported to KSAL news about the domestic dispute which occurred at 2 AM on the 19th. In the 300 block of S. Woodward Rd.

Melander said Juan Franco (37) Got into a verbal dispute with his 34-year old girlfriend after having a few alcoholic drinks. She eventually went into the bedroom in hopes of going to sleep. Franco got out a handgun and started yelling threats at her. The woman was able to escape and call 911 but had to leave the 5 children inside the house.

When deputies arrived they made contact with Franco and took him into custody following a search of the house. Deputies found the gun used to threaten the woman, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

The five children, ages ranging from 4 to 14 and the woman were not injured.

Franco is being charged with: Aggravated Assault, Criminal Threat, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Endangerment of a Child, Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm While Under The Influence of Alcohol.
