MMA Fighting Coming to Salina

Mixed Martial Arts fighting is coming to Salina.

According to the Tony’s Pizza Events Center, a brand new event for Salina, NEVER SURRENDER MMA: FULL BATTLE RATTLE, is coming to their Heritage Hall on Saturday, September 14 at 7:30 pm.

MMA (mixed martial arts) is a full-contact combat sport that allows striking and grappling, both standing and, on the ground, using techniques from various combat sports and martial arts. All participants in NEVER SURRENDER MMA are veterans.

NEVER SURRENDER MMA is a new amateur and professional combat association that focuses on bringing awareness to, and assisting veterans who are experiencing PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). NEVER SURRENDER MMA is also veteran owned business that provides live entertainment for the public, veterans and active duty military personnel.

NEVER SURRENDER MMA has partnered with MVP (Military Veteran Project) to create “Never Give Up, Never Surrender, 22-0,” a Veterans’ suicide awareness program and showing veterans with PTSD that there is relief through combative sports. An estimated 22 military veterans commit suicide each day.  Proceeds from the event and donations collected assist veterans in buying gym memberships and equipment used in their PTSD therapy.

NEVER SURRENDER MMA’s fan-base is loyal, and big. Its events in the Ft. Riley/Manhattan/Junction City area have played to capacity crowds and owner/promoter Samuel Kleinbeck is confident the crowds will follow the event to Salina.

“We are excited to branch out into Salina, and Heritage Hall at Tony’s Pizza Events Center is the perfect venue for our upcoming fights,” says Kleinbeck.

“The staff at Tony’s Pizza Events Center is equally enthusiastic about the new event,” said Susan Trafton, TPEC General Manager. “We are looking forward to hosting NEVER SURRENDER MMA and hope that it will become a regular event.”

The September 14th event will feature former UFC fighter Jake “The Librarian” Lindsey fighting for the Never Surrender title. Also see former Bellator fighter Justin “O-Town” Overton and local professional Kansas fighter Josh “Slipknot” Pfiefer. Additional fighters will be added to the card leading up to the event.
