Man Arrested after Fleeing Police

A discussion centered on a stolen grocery cart leads to the arrest of Salina man wanted on a felony warrant in Missouri.

Police Captain Paul Forrester tells KSAL News that Thursday morning, an officer on patrol noticed a man standing near a Save A Lot shopping cart at the corner of Iron and 3rd Street. The officer began a conversation with 29-year-old Anthony Bowman then ran a check on his name and discovered he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a suspected drug charge.

Police say Bowman had driven away in a car but was quickly located in the 1000 block of S. Santa Fe. Bowman pulled over but then ran from officers.

He was taken into custody a short time later around 10am and is now facing charges that could include interference with law enforcement and possession of a stimulant after officers reportedly found a metal business card holder with methamphetamine inside.
