Justin DeanJanuary 4, 2019

The Minneapolis Lady Lions had a tough task ahead of them opening the new year, on the road against a rival opponent in Southeast of Saline, and fell to the hands of the Lady Trojans by a 53-32 final score.

The Lady Trojans would lead at the end of the first 12-8. The Lady Lions would get as close as two at 12-10 with 7:00 to go in the first half, but were outscored 12-4 over the final seven minutes of the half and trailed 24-14 at the break.

The third quarter proved to be much like the opening period, a back and forth slug fest that saw Minneapolis on top 34-29 upon it’s conclusion. The Lions offense went cold from the floor in the final frame, with the Trojans tying it up at 39 all with 1:40 to go. Nick Montgomery had a chance to win it in regulation for Southeast of Saline with 1.3 seconds left, but his 15 footer was waved off due to a travelling violation and the game headed to overtime.
