Kansas Prisoners Headed to Arizona

MetroSourceAugust 13, 2019

Hundreds of Kansas prisoners will soon be leaving the state.

KAKE reports that the Kansas Department of Corrections will transfer nearly 360 prisoners to facilities in Arizona by the end of the year.

Officials say the inmates are being transferred due to overcrowding in Kansas prisons.

Kansas has nearly ten-thousand inmates, which is about 100 more than the state’s total prison capacity.
